Karen’s Story
As I was approaching my 51st birthday, I had finally been medically cleared to start exercising after I had been treated for almost 2 years with back problems. I only needed to lose a few pounds but most importantly I wanted to get into better physical shape. A friend of mine, Susie, had great success at Stage 3 so I decided to give it a try. After completing an In Body Assessment and receiving some nutritional advice, I realized I had a lot of work ahead of me. I was really nervous before my first class, as the members were obviously in much better shape than I was, how was I going to keep up with them? I soon realized that everyone had different strengths and paced themselves accordingly. The trainer was great and very encouraging, giving me further instruction as needed.

I thought I was fairly healthy when I started but I knew my physical fitness level was in bad shape, I couldn’t even complete one sit up or jog 1/4 mile. I have never been an athlete and all of my prior gym experiences have been only aerobic classes and jazzercise. After 6 weeks I lost 9 pounds of body fat mass. 18 months later I have lost a total of 14 pounds of fat and gained over 3 pounds of muscle. I eat better, look better and feel so much better. I am amazed after every class what I have physically accomplished keeping up with those who were at one time in much better shape than me. (I can now do over 60 sit ups in 2 minutes and so much more!) The other day I received a wonderful compliment when a college student asked me how often I worked out and I wasn’t even wearing “workout” clothes!
The best part about Stage 3 is the staff and trainers. They make it a point to know your name and any health concerns you might have right away. Then they remember those concerns! They are very encouraging and will push you to get to the next level. Angie was very helpful working with me on correct form and Dan has been very helpful guiding me with proper nutrition and strength training.
In the past, aerobics and jazzercise were a lot of fun, but I never saw results like this! I highly recommend Stage 3 because it is not an intimidating gym, everyone is there for the same reason. The trainers are awesome and sincerely care about helping the members safely do their best. Every workout is different so you will never get bored while getting the results you want!
